Where The Love Comes Easy EP

by VON BIEKER

1.
Oh my Lord, You cast such long, long shadows Strike a chord from some old song that we both know I’ll lay down and sing along with my eyes closed cos’ the light’s too bright sometimes Light can make you blind All the flowers we collected started wilting, drying out All the colours will be faded by the morning if we don’t stop to keep the beauty bright Your strong hand can feel like an anchor Hold me down but know that I cannot breathe underwater Life’s too good to want to trade this one in for another Would you pry my fingers loose? Could you pry my fingers loose? All the flowers we dug up, they started wilting, drying out All the colours will be faded by the morning if we don’t stop to keep the beauty bright All the flowers we collected started wilting, drying out All the colours will be faded by the morning if we don’t stop to keep the beauty bright

Haunted 02:37
And if I knew your name I’d probably forget every other word A mind can only hold so much beauty inside at least that’s what I’ve heard And I don’t want to find it out the hard way for myself I’ll just let someone else You left with someone else A moment open closed You vanished like a ghost I’m haunted If I could play the game I’d probably protect my heart from every wound I almost caught your name was written on your cup But I was looking up I don’t want to admit it but I know I stared to long Your eyes were singing songs I want to sing along But I forget the tune It echoes like a ghost I’m haunted I’ve been coming here for just about a year 6:30 on the clock Watching over the spot Right where you last touched down but now you’re not around No, you don’t come around anymore And if I knew your name I’d probably forget every other word

Take my hand hold it in your warm hand And I’ll hold onto you as the winter comes This is not exactly what we had planned time moves slowly and we’re still here where we’re from Sweeping pine needles from the wood floor Come January - it’s the worst time of the year towels stuffed underneath the front door to keep the cold out for me and Jack and Lu and you in here I would not trade I would not trade (it's easy to say) We could be out there in some beach house the kids come running in with handfuls full of sand Or maybe not maybe we are travellers We’ve got no family yet and all of the time in the world With our backpacks worn right through baby me and you could have wound somewhere better than this old place she was built in 55 but we’re keeping her alive through a decade’s worth of winters while we’re growing strong as timbers would not trade (it's easy to say)

Be good to my heart be good to my heart be good to my heart you know it’s been broken before If I let them nail these hands will that help you understand? If I let them run me through will that be enough for you ? I’ll be good to your heart I’ll be good to your heart I will be good to your heart One’s never been broken before My promises keep My promises keep Forget all that you have come to believe One’s never been broken before If I let them nail these hands Will that help you understand? If I let them run me through Will that be enough for you? (to know that) I’m not going anywhere I’m not going anywhere Without you They’ll hurt you deeper than you know deeper still I’ll heal you deeper than they’ll go you know I will So be free with your heart be free with your heart be free with your heart like it’s never been broken before

about

The second EP in the 'Santa Fe' collection, this collection is a companion piece to 2016's Where The Air Is Thin. Both contain songs written in, or about, Santa Fe, New Mexico. This collection begins with Beauty Bright, written on banjo in Santa Fe because it was easier to bring a banjo on the plane.

about

VON BIEKER Edmonton, Alberta

Von Bieker plays bow tie rock and folk to haunt your heart.

Retro guitar twang sets a reverb- soaked soundstage for Von Bieker's resonant writing; his voice pushed until it cracks into free-fall falsetto.

Von Bieker performs both solo, and with his three-piece band as Von Bieker and his Small-Tones.
